The calorie deficit framework captures one real truth — the law of thermodynamics — and then ignores everything else that actually governs how your body stores and burns fuel. The body prioritizes moving glucose and nutrients into cells — and when those cells are already full, into fat tissue. This is normal and healthy in the short term. The problem is what happens when the system breaks down.
